Today would have been the 75th birthday of Gil Scott-Heron.
I had the pleasure of joining him in the studio only once, to record one of his most notable works: "Pieces of a Man" (1971).
Give it a listen here: ow.ly/8j6X50ORaCN

@MatthewHoult1 Must confess PF are a bit of a blind spot for me. Like the odd song & do like some bits & pieces of their music but not in a big way. They are clearly monumental talents & think title song of Wish You Were Here is a masterpiece.

Home is Where The Hatred Is, is a song I thought I knew what it was about, before I heard it, from it’s title. I was wrong. It’s so much better than I assumed or suspected. If you haven’t already heard it? I recommend it. ❤️🩹
HBD to The GOAT.

What's one of your favorite David Bowie songs? 🎶
David Bowie released his debut solo single, "Do Anything You Say," on April 1, 1966. It was a flop. His self-titled debut album released in June 1967 in both mono & stereo mixes didn't fair much better. But, in July 1969, he released the single "Space Oddity" a tale about a fictional astronaut from his upcoming 2nd studio album. The single became Bowie's 1st commercial hit, reaching the UK top five.

@DunningRoss @crockpics They were great that day. Day itself was pretty chaotic & given I was about 14/15 yrs old-scary but exciting. First use of lasers in an outdoor concert & apparently the loudest concert recorded at the time. While not Keith Moon’s last gig - it was his swan song in many ways 🥁🕊️

@Tagore1069 @crockpics I was at Charlton the year befo5with Lou Reed and Humble Pie. They weren't very good. Pete says he can't remember the gig!
But I saw their Xmas gig at Hammy Odeon. Magnificent!
