Why oh why doesn’t our establishment accept that its only moral obligation is to the British state and the British people? Not to global welfare. Not to international liberalism. To us, and our country, and our self-government. That is it. The moment they do that, so many of the issues which plague our society become easier to manage. Immigration is no longer a question of benefitting the largest number of global citizens but about boosting the British economy while keeping British people safe. Foreign relations is not about promoting obscure minority rights in far off lands but about securing British interests wherever necessary. And most of all we drop the idea that every culture in the world is the same and therefore anybody can fit in here, and celebrate the fact that Britain has a highly distinct, highly evolved culture all of its own that we want to cherish and protect. What’s so difficult about that?

@TheClobs We will rejoin eventually unless the majority of the population are convinced it was a good idea. We are now the poor man of Europe. I remember when it was the eastern European countries that had roads full of potholes, now we are like that, by choice.

I think there are about 500 people who really think we should go on our knees and apply to join the EU, give up the pound, submit ourselves to EU law and spend 10 years negotiating our humiliation. And they have all been in my timeline today.

It’s really strange how some boomers are blaming young people taking “bullshit degrees” for the reason they can’t buy a house when they’re the ones who encouraged that if we wanted to be successful, we should get a degree. Most 18 year olds are following the advice of their parents and their schools when they go to university - this is system that the boomers set up and now young people are being blamed for it.

Lifting the two child cap is yet more welfare, paid for by working people. A third of the beneficiaries are recent arrivals to the UK. Reform will defuse the benefits bomb bankrupting Britain. We’re for workers, not welfare.

There will be no boost to the economy and the amount payable to the EU will more than eclipse any theoretical benefits. This nonsense “reset” is a backward step and there is no democratic mandate for it. The next Government must add it to the list for jettisoning on day one.

@RichardBentall Starmer's going far beyond the manifesto which said "no return to the single market". Mandate was to seek a veterinary agreement, mutual recognition of professional quals, helping touring artists and a security pact. Nothing about Erasmus, youth mobility scheme or sectoral deals.

@TheClobs @JeromeDavies1 Sure. But 6% GDP loss equate sto £63 bn/yr lost tax revenues. Most of that we'll never get back but without a reset it will get worse each year. The reset was also in the Labour manifesto and is supported by a majority of UK citizens including many leave voters.
