Labour have no mandate for Digital ID, eroding jury trials, scrapping two child benefit cap, assisted dying, scrapping Police & Crime Commissioners, Erasmus or an EU Youth Mobility Scheme. Any more examples? #GeneralElectionNow

@danielmgmoylan Brexit not popular because it's made everyone poorer? You finding it hard to sell it? I mean it is a hard sell, and most people are totally unconvinced by your hollow arguments for Brexit.

I think there are about 500 people who really think we should go on our knees and apply to join the EU, give up the pound, submit ourselves to EU law and spend 10 years negotiating our humiliation. And they have all been in my timeline today.

It’s really strange how some boomers are blaming young people taking “bullshit degrees” for the reason they can’t buy a house when they’re the ones who encouraged that if we wanted to be successful, we should get a degree. Most 18 year olds are following the advice of their parents and their schools when they go to university - this is system that the boomers set up and now young people are being blamed for it.

Lifting the two child cap is yet more welfare, paid for by working people. A third of the beneficiaries are recent arrivals to the UK. Reform will defuse the benefits bomb bankrupting Britain. We’re for workers, not welfare.

Reeves pats herself on the back. The woman who once ludicrously posed as the Iron Chancellor, hiked taxes, wasted billions on benefits, destroyed jobs and crushed economic growth. She’s totally out of her depth.

There will be no boost to the economy and the amount payable to the EU will more than eclipse any theoretical benefits. This nonsense “reset” is a backward step and there is no democratic mandate for it. The next Government must add it to the list for jettisoning on day one.
Mark English@EULondonMark

Yes. UK will have to pay to be part of EU single market for some products. But reset deal with EU estimated to boost economy by £9 billion a year..several times more than any cost. Real win would be rejoining whole single market - at least £90 billion. politico.eu/article/uk-eu-…

@TheClobs You don't want your young to have opportunities abroad. Immigration skyrocketed after Brexit. If your kids can't get jobs that's the reason, and now you don't want them to be able to find work abroad. As I said, Brexshitters despise the young, and the young know it.

@RichardBentall Starmer's going far beyond the manifesto which said "no return to the single market". Mandate was to seek a veterinary agreement, mutual recognition of professional quals, helping touring artists and a security pact. Nothing about Erasmus, youth mobility scheme or sectoral deals.

@TheClobs @JeromeDavies1 Sure. But 6% GDP loss equate sto £63 bn/yr lost tax revenues. Most of that we'll never get back but without a reset it will get worse each year. The reset was also in the Labour manifesto and is supported by a majority of UK citizens including many leave voters.

Richard Bentall #FBPE @richardbentall.bsky.social
@TheClobs Well, credible estimates put the current loss at about 6-8% of GDP. This will increase over time so its hard to model on an envelope. However, 6% of GDP equates to a tax revenue loss of £63 bn/yr. Obviously won't be reversed instantly or totally but that's your reference point.

In 2016, 17.4 million people voted to stop sending money to Brussels and stop being subject to its rules. In 2026, Keir Starmer is in talks to send Brussels £2.9 billion a year — permanently — and is openly not ruling out returning to the Single Market. Nobody voted for this. Nobody was asked. The people who howled loudest about “respecting democracy” after 2016 are now engineering the reversal of it, one “ambitious trade deal” at a time.
