Should Washington finish with a bottom-four record, which seems quite likely, they will improve to a 100% chance of keeping their first-round pick.

@RoceanP @SIChrisMannix Yeah but if you can't give the smaller market teams a chance then you have no shot of competitive basketball. Remember the OKC run started in earnest because they tanked for kd,Russ, harden. Everything from there has been a result of those 3 picks

Several things here:
1. @SIChrisMannix is very good at what he does but he comes from a Boston background. I'm not sure he fully understands being a fan of a small market team.
2. Why is it suddenly a problem this year? OKC, San Antonio, Dallas, Philly all tanked...

@SIChrisMannix 5. The fans of teams like Washington, Utah, Brooklyn etc who got hosed in the lottery had much less to look forward to affecting attendance, morale, etc. Along with owners going to a DTC model for TV rights, the fan is being squeezed. Paying $20/month for Wiz games is nuts.

@SIChrisMannix 4. The NFL works because people root for the helmet not the players. The helmet means more because teams have a chance to pick a franchise QB when they are bad and it builds excitement. Having Dallas, SAS, and Philly at the top of the last draft was fucking asinine.

I do genuinely believe Jerry Stackhouse should get another shot somewhere. I thought he was a pretty excellent X’s and O’s offensive coach at Vandy and just didn’t have resources to get players mostly.
But yeah, can’t do this one at UNC. Too many more proven options.
