@JBudzelek I'd be happy for him if he had gotten CCSU to the NCAA Tournament. If he leaves now obviously I wouldn't hate him for it, but I wouldn't exactly feel warm & fuzzy. I'm a fan, after all.

@TheMidRangeJump Totally, we saw it just a few years ago with Tobin heading to Iona… clearly, there’s an ascension jumping up from an NEC school to a top-tier MAAC program. I’d hate to see him leave Central, but I’d also be proud of him.

I'm guessing Syracuse is going to hire Gerry McNamara.
I'm also guessing Patrick Sellers will be on the short list to replace him at Siena.

@JBudzelek That nught be the best job in the MAAC in terms of resources. He's so hamstrung at CCSU, he'd be crazy to not at least consider it.

@TheMidRangeJump You know what, Matt, but I was spending some time yesterday thinking about who the next Siena head coach might be, and Sellers never really crossed my mind, but it does make a ton of sense as it would be a job upgrade for Pat, and a smart pivot for Siena.

@CKPsports @CCSU_Fanatics It's a pretty great system for most. But for fans of a school with zero resources, it's awful.
My favorite thing about being a CBB fan was watching players grow and improve over 4 years. That's obviously gone.

@CCSU_Fanatics @TheMidRangeJump The system is completely broken. New rosters every season now for teams like Central. In the past, you go into the offseason with some excitement that you have X amount of starters returning. It's now a completely different ballgame. Awful is all I can say.

No surprise here.
I wish him luck. Hopefully he can land somewhere with a stretch-5 that will allow him to operate as a lob threat on the off end while not having to defend a big man 1v1.

NEWS: Central Connecticut forward Max Frazier is entering the transfer portal, his agent Pop Little of SML Sports, told @LeagueRDY. The 6-foot-9 forward out of Pittsboro, North Carolina began his career playing one season at Siena before playing the last two at Central Connecticut. He averaged 12.0PPG, 7.2RPG and 1.7BPG while being named the NEC’s Most Improved Player this season.

The NCAA wants to expand the tournament so Wisconsin can lose to Auburn instead of High Point and Siena can never even get the chance to take a double-digit lead on Duke.

@TheRealStraw10 This will be the most difficult rebuild he's had since the first season. He brought back 3 All-NEC players from last yr. I don't believe that'll be the case next season.

NEWS: Central Connecticut guard Jay Rodgers intends to enter the transfer portal, his agency 3V Group told @LeagueRDY. Rodgers finished Top 10 in the country in totals assists and was also named Second Team All-NEC this season. He averaged 11.0PPG, 6.9APG and 2.2RPG in 2025-26.

@TheMidRangeJump Another full rebuild for Sellers and the Blue Devils. The NCAA has lost all control of amateurism, and low-budget programs like CCSU are being left to slowly die on the vine. Sad, sad, sad. 😭

No surprise here.
It's easy to be frustrated with the Transfer Portal stuff as a fan of a low-major. But he's doing exactly what I'd advise my own kid to do, if he averaged 20 in the NEC.

Central Connecticut's Darin Smith Jr., the NEC Player of the Year, intends to enter the transfer, a source tells @247SportsPortal. Averaged 20.7 PPG, 5.4 RPG and 1.2 APG this season. Is repped by @lamfsports.

The silver lining here is that the Sweet 16 and beyond will be full of great teams.
But for those of us who love to see a mid major or 3 make it to the 2nd weekend, it's incredibly unlikely. But that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone paying attention.
