Forty years in this game. Here is what I have learned about the families who navigate it best. They are not the ones with the biggest budgets. They are not the ones with the most connections. They are the ones who decided early that this is a forty-year decision, and started behaving accordingly. They turn down the showcase that does not fit the plan. They pass on the travel team that promises exposure for a price. They put their son in front of honest evaluators instead of marketing departments. They are not chasing baseball. They are building a man who happens to play it. The trophy is the relationship you have with your son when he is thirty.

Got to watch my 14yo freshman make his varsity debut on Friday night with a scoreless/hitless inning. Nothing better than seeing your kid work his tail off and have it pay off.

It's not even May 1st, and CCSU now has 8 experienced players on the roster, including nearly all of their guards (though they probably need another scoring guard imo). Now they need to find some scoring, and size up front. Plenty of time to do so. A good start, for sure!

LIU starts the offseason with a big get. LIU lands 6'3 redshirt sophomore guard Vasean Allette, who comes in from UTSA, where he did not play this past season. Allette played at TCU in 2024-25, where he averaged 11.4 PPG and 3.5 APG in starting 25 of 32 games. Played his freshman year at Old Dominion, where he started in 18 of 19 games and averaged 17.4 PPG and shot 35.5% from three. #LIUMBB #NECMBB

If you're a fan of a high major team, I'd imagine college hoops has gotten even more fun now that the off-season means so much more. But for fans of mid/low-majors, it's terrible.

@DalyDoseOfHoops I believe that's now the 4th sitting HC to leave to become an assistant this cycle? I fear you will see more and more of these types of moves.

The lack of resources at mid-majors is sad. Some people might not appreciate John’s brutal honesty here, but it will raise awareness for what the game is becoming if nothing else.
