APPLICATIONS FOR WALL OF HONOUR PLAQUES WILL OPEN AT 10AM TODAY! The Wall of Honour is located along the iconic Comrades Marathon route near Drummond and is a monument dedicated to those who have completed The Ultimate Human Race. Only those who have completed the race qualify to have their name mounted on the wall as a reflection of their achievement. Who qualifies to purchase a plaque? •You have completed at least 1 Comrades Marathon (yellow plaque); •If you have completed 10 or more Comrades (green plaque); •You want to upgrade your yellow plaque to a green plaque or upgrade your green plaque to reflect additional laurels. Application period •The current application period will begin on 2 March 2026 at 10am and will close once the limit for the first batch has been reached. Applications will be limited to 100 plaques per batch. The CMA will publish once applications for the next batch are open. You can view the status of applications via the Wall of Honour page on the Comrades Marathon website. Cost •R700 per plaque. •Upgrading an existing plaque: R350. How to order: •Follow this link to our website comrades.com/about/wall-of-… or visit our website comrades.com, and click on the Wall of Honour tab. •Click on “Purchase Plaque” at the bottom of the page and follow the steps. •Please read the terms and conditions carefully when you place your order. •You can view a digital version of your plaque before finalizing your order. Please ensure that all details entered on the system are correct and that the information on the plaque is accurate. The Wall of Honour online ordering system has been upgraded to include exciting new features! •We now accept card payments. •You will now be able to order multiple plaques as part of one order. •You can follow the progress of your order on the Wall of Honour page by searching for your plaque. Once the plaque has been installed, you will be able to view the grid in which your plaque is located. •If you are purchasing the plaque as a gift, you will be able to download a gift letter. You will still be able to enjoy the following features: •You can search and view plaques that are currently on the Wall of Honour. •You can view where a plaque is located on the grid. Please note: •All Wall Of Honour (WOH) orders must be submitted via the online ordering system. •Lead time: 4 to 6 weeks (may be affected by weather conditions, availability of material or other factors). •Only one plaque will be allowed per person (green plaques will replace yellow plaques once you qualify to purchase or upgrade to a green plaque). •Only plaques ordered as part of a single order will be placed together on the wall. Through its partnership with its insurance underwriters, iTOO Special Risks, the CMA has secured comprehensive Contingency and Cancellation Insurance - also known as Event Cancellation Cover - to safeguard both participants and the organisation against potential losses arising from an unforeseen cancellation. As one of South Africa’s premier sporting events, the Comrades Marathon demands extensive planning, logistics, and coordination. However, the CMA recognises that circumstances beyond its control - such as extreme weather - can sometimes force the cancellation or abandonment of an event. Factoring this risk into both event planning and insurance coverage ensures greater resilience and fairness to all involved. This policy provides security and peace of mind for runners and organisers alike.
