Very happy to share the results of our study: The metabolic cost of inspiratory muscle training in mechanically ventilated patients in critical care. A higher PImax = less pronounced increase in VO2 as IMT load increases. doi.org/10.1186/s40635…

Further data exploring the metabolic cost of rehab in mechanically ventilated patients. Highly variable responses between and within participants performing the same functional activity. bmjopenrespres.bmj.com/content/12/1/e…

Happy to share the results of our study. A modification to a domiciliary ventilator that reduces walled oxygen consumption. This may be a valuable modification where there is a relative shortage of oxygen doi.org/10.1177/175114…

@gosselink_rik Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately we did not measure compliance. I imagine if compliance was added to the LMM it might influence the intercept. If patients altered their lung volumes at different loads (very plausible) this could influence the slope.

@Tim_JenkinsPT Did you consider that not only external resistance (ie IMT load), but also internal resistance (respiratory compliance that might be considerable in this patient population…) will add to total work and thus VO2?
