@Its_ereko Another misguided attempt. This will only end up harming EU citizens, European industry will decline significantly within a few years if cheap Russian energy continues to be rejected. In that scenario, Europe may have little choice but to turn to Chinese alternatives anyway.

🇫🇮🇨🇳🚨 BREAKING: FINLAND JUST BLOCKED CHINA. Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen says China's ties with Russia are a "disqualifying factor" for any EU-China trade deal. No FTA talks. No negotiations. Not unless China drops Russia. Finland has veto power. All 27 EU members must agree. Finland just used its vote to shut the door. China wants a deal. The EU is divided. Finland is drawing a line in the sand. This is not just about trade. This is about the new Cold War. Finland is choosing sides. Clearly. The question is whether the rest of Europe follows or fractures.

China wants a trade deal with the EU. Finland just made that impossible — unless China drops Russia. ㅤ Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen was direct: China's ties with Moscow are a deal-breaker for any EU-China free trade agreement. No negotiations can begin without all 27 EU member states on board. Finland is one of them. ㅤ Beijing has been pitching trade and investment deals to European leaders for months. Last month Germany's chancellor called such an agreement potentially achievable. Valtonen just cooled that down significantly. ㅤ China now has to choose: one of the world's largest markets, or continued partnership with a sanctioned, isolated aggressor. ㅤ That's a real economic squeeze — and it came from Helsinki, not Washington. ㅤ

Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen says China’s close ties to Russia rule out any EU–China trade deal. According to her, Beijing can’t back a war in Europe and expect business as usual. This is the way.

Ukrainians are exhausted. We’re tired of being called “unbreakable” - we are human. We want peace, to return to our families, to sleep without explosions. Yesterday my 7-year-old son said he’s afraid to go to bed because of shelling. What am I supposed to tell him? Enough resolutions, enough statements. Act. Europe must lead. Help us end this war.

@NeilMcCoyWard Kazakh Energy Minister presumes it is because of recent strikes by Ukraine on Russian oil infrastructure and expects transit to resume ASAP. It is Zelensky who does not consider Eu energy crisis, as seen with the southern Druzhba pipeline to influence Hungarian elections.

Russia just gave Germany less than 2 weeks notice. Germany stopped buying Russian oil in 2022 and replaced it with Kazakh oil. The oil still travels through a Russian pipeline so Russia still decides if it moves. On May 1 it will not. The refinery receiving that oil supplies 90% of the petrol, kerosene and heating fuel for Berlin, its airport and the surrounding region. A full halt cuts 17% of what it processes overnight. The last time this refinery lost its main supply it dropped to 50-60% capacity and Berlin faced fuel shortages within weeks. The only alternative route is through Poland's port of Gdansk. Poland is already using that capacity for its own refinery. With the Hormuz closed there is no surplus supply sitting anywhere in Europe ready to fill a gap this size. Germany spent four years saying it had ended its dependence on Russian energy. The oil it replaced it with has travelled through a Russian pipeline every day since 2022. Russia has just shown who really owns that oil. Follow me to stay informed

@Osint613 This 20th package also activates the 'anti-circumvention' tool for the first time. It’s a clear message: if you help Russia move money, you’re next on the list. No more neutral ground.

Promised, delivered, implemented. The EU’s strategy to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine rests on two pillars: strengthening Ukraine; increasing pressure on Russia. Today we moved forward on both: ▪️ Unlocking the €90 billion loan to Ukraine, securing financial and military support for 2026–2027. ▪️ Adopting the 20th package of sanctions against Russia, reducing its ability to wage war. Europe stands firm, united and unwavering in its support to Ukraine.

Europe has proven that it has the capacity to support Ukraine not only last year. With the €90 billion loan that we will approve tomorrow, we will support Ukraine in 2026 and 2027. And we will continue as long as necessary and whatever it takes. #DelphiEconomicForum

What you see every day on European television is a carefully edited story: Ukraine is “winning,” the West is “united,” and everything is under control. I wish that were true. The reality inside my country is very different. Entire cities and towns have been reduced to rubble. Hundreds of thousands of young Ukrainian men have been killed or maimed. Families are exhausted, the economy is in ruins, and the next winter can again come with blackouts and empty shelves. People are not “resilient heroes” in some Hollywood script — they are simply desperate. Many no longer believe the war will end on the terms we were promised two years ago. And yet, when you listen to Brussels or read the big European newspapers, you hear only applause for the status quo. More sanctions. More weapons. More “strategic patience.” They call it solidarity. One has to ask — with all due respect — is it really solidarity, or is it something more cynical? European leaders talk about “defending democracy” while quietly admitting in private that they have no plan for victory and no real intention of paying the full price themselves. Their media shows endless images of Ukrainian suffering but almost never asks the uncomfortable question: how many more lives must be lost before someone in the EU admits that the current strategy is not working? This is not just hypocritical. It is dangerous. By keeping the conflict frozen in this half-supported, half-abandoned state, we are not only destroying Ukraine — we are exhausting Europe’s own economies, pushing global food and energy prices higher, and steadily raising the risk that one miscalculation turns a regional war into something far wider. The status quo is not neutral. It is a slow-motion catastrophe dressed up as moral virtue. I am not asking for surrender. I am asking for honesty. Europeans deserve to know the real price being paid. Ukrainians deserve leaders who tell them the truth instead of yesterday’s slogans. And the world deserves a conversation that is no longer filtered through political correctness.

🇺🇦🇭🇺 President Zelenskyy said he hopes Hungary’s new leadership will adopt a more constructive stance toward Ukraine and confirmed Kyiv’s readiness for dialogue. “I very much hope that Hungary’s position will be constructive toward us. We will also demonstrate steps in response. We are neighbours – we must live in peace,” Zelenskyy said. He added that he is ready to meet Hungary’s newly elected prime minister at any time. Still, he noted that Budapest is currently focused on forming its government and addressing issues with the European Union.

Lithuanian PM Inga Ruginienė @IRuginiene has urged Volodymyr Zelenskyy to avoid “intimidation rhetoric” following his warnings about a possible Russian attack on the Baltic states. She stated there are currently no preconditions for such a threat: “We see no signals of an imminent attack.” Lithuania is heavily investing in defense as a NATO member and is ready to respond to any hybrid provocations or attacks from Russia and Belarus, she said. The call comes after sharp criticism from Estonian politicians, who said Zelenskyy’s remarks do not match their intelligence assessments and complicate allied cooperation. Meanwhile, Russian propaganda and the Russian Foreign Ministry continue spreading threats and “warnings” against the Baltics.
