🇺🇦 Meanwhile in Ukraine — telling Ukraine’s story to the world Every day, millions of people see only fragments of what Ukraine is living through. Our team of Ukrainian journalists works to change that — by reporting the truth, documenting courage, and amplifying the voices that Russia tries to silence. We show what really happens on the ground: — frontline stories and verified war updates — moments of resilience and humanity — culture, history, and the people who refuse to disappear — the global solidarity that keeps Ukraine alive We are fully independent. No sponsors. No state funding. Just Ukrainians doing everything they can to keep the world informed. If our work matters to you — if our posts helped you understand Ukraine better, feel closer to its people, or stay connected to the truth — we invite you to stand with us. Your support, even $3, keeps this project alive and ensures the world does not look away. From the U.S. to the U.K., Canada, Sweden, Australia and beyond — readers from more than 40 countries already help us continue. We’d be honoured to have you with us too. 💙💛 Thank you for being here. Ukraine just struck a Russian warship. On the Caspian Sea. On the night of May 7, Ukrainian forces hit the Caspian Flotilla's naval base at Kaspiysk port — targeting the Tucha, a Karakurt-class missile corvette that joined the flotilla in 2024. Tucha is a carrier of Kalibr and Oniks cruise missiles. Satellite imagery confirms an FPV drone struck the vessel's superstructure directly. The ship's fire control system — used to calculate and launch Kalibr strikes — was damaged or destroyed.

Russia’s rear is becoming part of the war it started. Ukraine’s drones are making distance matter less. ㅤ Ukrainian drones are turning Russia’s rear into a battlefield by reaching the systems that help sustain Moscow’s invasion. At the same time, Europe is facing a harder question: whether symbolic support is still enough when Ukraine is fighting a war that keeps expanding in range, pressure, and cost. ㅤ Ukraine is moving the pressure deeper. Europe has to decide whether its support will move with it. ㅤ buymeacoffee.com/meaninuak/top-…

Russia built Shahed to hit Ukraine. Ukraine just built the answer. Ukraine has unveiled Behemoth — a domestic long-range strike drone with a 300 km range, 75 kg payload and speeds up to 200 km/h. It flies at 90–300 m altitude, operates in both FPV and autonomous modes, uses Starlink for communications and carries a tandem warhead: a shaped-charge penetrator combined with a thermobaric munition. Ukraine didn't just study the threat. It replicated the logic and upgraded it.

Russia rehearsed fear. Ukraine went after fuel. ㅤ As Moscow and Minsk staged nuclear drills, Ukraine struck deep into Russia’s fuel infrastructure again. Europe, meanwhile, debated what real security guarantees for Kyiv should look like — because this war is no longer only about promises, but about what can actually stop Russia from returning. ㅤ Pressure is now measured in fuel lines, nuclear theatre, and the security Ukraine is still waiting for. ㅤ patreon.com/posts/top-news…

There are good results from the warriors of the SSU Special Operations Center “A.” A Russian FSB headquarters has been struck, and a Pantsir-S1 surface-to-air missile system has been destroyed in our temporarily occupied territory. Thanks to just this one operation, Russian losses amount to around a hundred occupiers killed and wounded. Russians must feel that they must bring this war of theirs to an end. Ukraine’s medium- and long-range sanctions will keep working.

Ukraine just put a laser on a trailer — and it's nearly ready. The Trident laser anti-drone system has been integrated into a mobile trailer-based air defense platform and is entering final tests. It can neutralize reconnaissance drones at up to 1.5 km, FPV drones at 800–900 m, and engage Shahed-type strike drones at ranges up to 5 km — with AI-assisted guidance, automatic target capture and radar integration. No interceptor drone needed. No ammunition. Just targeting and light. Ukraine isn't waiting for Western systems to cover every gap. It's building the architecture itself.

A quarter of Russia's oil refining capacity is now offline. Nearly every major refinery in central Russia has halted or cut output following Ukrainian drone strikes over the past two weeks, Reuters reports. Ryazan stopped May 15. Moscow's refinery — May 17. Yaroslavl is running at roughly 25% capacity. Russia's second-largest refinery, Kirishi — 20 million tonnes per year — has been down since May 5. A new strike hit the Nizhny Novgorod facility on May 20; damage is still being assessed. Combined, the affected plants represent over 83 million metric tonnes of annual refining capacity — more than 30% of Russia's gasoline output and roughly 25% of its diesel. This is no longer a series of strikes. It's a supply chain.

Ukraine's drone interceptors are no longer chasing. They're hunting. A Ukrainian intercept drone tracked and neutralized a Russian UAV mid-flight. Clean. Filmed. Precise. This isn't improvisation anymore. Ukraine is writing the doctrine on drone-vs-drone warfare. Support link is in our Bio.

Ukraine is not asking for permission to survive. Péter Magyar said it clearly: Ukraine is the victim — and it has every right to defend itself. He pointed to the Budapest Memorandum too: in 1994, Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and borders were put under international security assurances. ㅤ Russia broke that promise by invading. Ukraine is not “escalating” by defending itself. Ukraine is protecting what others once promised to respect. ㅤ That is the difference between aggression and self-defense. ㅤ

Russia kept trying to make Ukrainian cities the battlefield. Ukraine kept moving the battlefield into Russia’s war machine. ㅤ Russia struck Ukrainian cities again with another wave of attacks. Ukrainian forces kept targeting refineries, drone centers, and military sites tied to Moscow’s war effort — the places that help fuel, build, and launch the next strikes. ㅤ One side attacks daily life. The other is pressing on the machinery that keeps the invasion alive. ㅤ buymeacoffee.com/meaninuak/top-…

The night had two directions: Russia fired at cities. Ukraine went after the supply chain. ㅤ Russia spent the night hitting Ukrainian cities with another wave of attacks. Ukraine answered by striking the machinery that keeps Moscow’s war moving — the infrastructure that fuels, moves, commands, and shields the next strikes. ㅤ One side targets civilian life. The other is trying to make the next attack harder to launch. ㅤ patreon.com/posts/top-news…

Ukraine may have found a cheap way to give a drone extra range. Let a balloon do the first 42 km. ㅤ Ukrainian troops reportedly tested launching the Ukrainian-American Hornet one-way attack drone from an aerostat. The balloon carried it 42 km and released it from 8 km altitude. ㅤ The drone used only about 5% of its battery before beginning its own flight. ㅤ The trick is simple: the balloon provides distance and altitude, while the drone keeps almost all of its battery for the real mission. If proven at scale, it could push Hornet’s estimated 100–150 km reach by another 1.5 to 2 times. ㅤ This is what Ukrainian defense innovation often looks like: clever ways to stretch what already exists. ㅤ

Kstovo is fuel. Nevinnomyssk is chemistry. Ukraine is pressing the parts of Russia’s war machine that are hard to replace quickly. ㅤ Kstovo’s Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery is one of Russia’s largest: about 17 million tons of crude capacity a year, producing gasoline, diesel, aviation fuel and other oil products for the Moscow-region market. ㅤ The likely hit point matters too: an ELOU-AVT unit — the first stage of refining, where crude is prepared and separated into the basic fractions everything downstream depends on. ㅤ Nevinnomyssk Azot is a different kind of target: ammonia and ammonium nitrate production, tied to Russia’s explosives, propellants and ammunition supply chain. Damage there is still being assessed. ㅤ The pattern is the point: Ukraine is not just striking. It is returning to the same industrial nodes before Russia can fully reset them. ㅤ
