Spain dropped its F-35 plans, its European FCAS program is delayed until the 2040s, and its air force needs modern stealth capability now. Turkey's KAAN fills that gap. Spain already bought 30 Turkish Hürjet trainer jets for €2.6 billion, so this relationship has precedent.
