The humidity is so high today in Woods Hole that even my iced coffee is displeased. (This is an unretouched photo, btw. Spooky.) 🥵🌞

The new book, “Decentered Playwriting”, offers alternatives to hegemonic dramaturgies (or “hegeturgy.”) Hegeturgy is an incomplete but helpful construct that invokes a suite of pedagogical standards, those that have traditionally informed playwriting instruction in the West to prepare students of playwriting for professional careers. Hegeturgy prioritizes plays that are “closed,” “producible,” and developed through a hierarchical development and production process. Read an online excerpt from the book for free until March 6, 2024 in the Winter 2023 Issue of "The Dramatist" - A Magazine for Theatre Writers Published by The Dramatists Guild of America dramatistsguild.com/thedramatist/b… To learn more about “Decentered Playwriting” by Carolyn Dunn, Eric Holmes, and Les Hunter or to place a pre-order, visit decenteredplaywriting.com Photo: “Specimens of Fancy Turning” by Edward J.
