Tactical Voting Guide for Unionists

Here is our voting guide for the 2026 Scottish Parliamentary Election. Tactical voting is very difficult this year with the unpredictability of Reform and the 4 way split, but if we are careful on the regionals we can limit the Greens there.

@BoycottsBat I agree, Labour are weak on the Union too, in fact they are almost neutral on it now. Better than the SNP/Greens obviously but not ideal.

@UnionVoteScot Sounds like Reform might be the safest bet on that basis. People are less likely to hold their nose to vote Labour after the dismal performance of the U.K. government.

@UnionVoteScot how confident are you about Reform being the best bet in Aberdeen Central? Others are suggesting Labour.

@rowan53 Tories are favourites to win Aberdeenshire West. Likewise Reform should hopefully win 2 seats in the region. Therefore a vote for Lab or Lib in the regional is more powerful.

@Antisaint13 Do what you want mate it's your vote. If you tell me your seat i can tell you if you can get away with voting someone else or not - many seats aren't really in play. The guidance is simply designed to minimise SNP and Green seats.

@UnionVoteScot Even to keep the SNP out I wouldn't vote Labour. Labour leadership have constantly flirted with Indy nuts and are "open" to the idea. That's before we get to them being mental and economically illiterate

@tim_oates1 Labour or Lib if they were 2nd or better in 2019. The rest were an amalgamation of multiple pollster prediction which usually aligned, the 2 or 3 remaining were educated guesses.

Here's the final tactical voting guide for GE 2024 Please share far and wide - the SNP might not seem like a threat any more, but if we're not careful they could still be the dominant Scottish party. However if we're smart we can get them to around 15 seats

As before, avoid voting Reform in Scotland. Punishing the Tories may seem attractive but that can be taken care of by England/Wales. In Scotland a significant Reform vote could let the SNP in.

@sara_polar @iainmartin1 Because it bullied the UK into it via economic coercion. The EU is definitely partially at fault for this situation. The difference is it's not the EU's problem, they don't really care if NI Unionists are disgruntled. It doesn't really impact them in any way.

EU seems not to understand what it has got itself into on NI. Brexiteers created a mess, yes. But EU shouting at UK govt to observe the protocol misses the point. The GFA institutions require consent, in effect of the DUP. Has Dublin explained this? EU, welcome to the GFA.
