Scoring in the finals was NOT up this year. It was only slightly higher than 2025, which was one of the lowest in recent memory. 2026 was the third lowest median points scored since 2013, and the 4th lowest in average points. This is despite having the highest point total in a final in over 13 years with the Messenbrink TF.

Current rules don't promote stalling. Scared refs refusing to call stalling promotes stalling. Scared wrestlers worried about making a mistake promotes stalling.

Your 2026 NCAA wrestling Division I All-Americans by high school graduation year: 2018 - 1 2019 - 6 2020 - 10 2021 - 7 2022 - 13 2023 - 23 2024 - 12 2025 - 8

@MatScouts1 Reaction time strikes again. That was no take down according to refs who knows it all.

Here’s one of the most PHYSICAL sequences of wrestling you’ll ever see 😳‼️ In overtime - Van Ness and Swiderski battled like dogs, literally going head to head several times in back and forth attacks/reattacks. Eventually Swiderski couldn’t keep up the pace and fell to known cardio merchant Shayne VAN NESS (PSU)

And only 20 seconds later in SV, Lillard again got in on an apparent takedown on the edge against Brignola. This one was called but then waived off after a review. Just brutal.
