I don’t think I like it but I had this idea. If the first period ends 0-0, the referee gives one point to whichever wrestler he determines was the more aggressive offensive wrestler

@MatScouts1 It WAS a takedown but it was the bad timing by the ref that resulted in the review and ultimately no takedown call. Had the ref called the takedown when it was a takedown, we most likely wouldn’t be having this conversation. Timing as an official is everything!

The Duke-Robideau sequence/call had absolutely nothing to do with reaction time and everything to do with bad mechanics, incompetence, and nonsensical assessment. Everyone needs to stop saying 'reaction time' b/c you don't know wtf you're talking about.
Glory cowboy!@gowrigsankar

@MatScouts1 Reaction time strikes again. That was no take down according to refs who knows it all.

Take this from a guy that never wrestled until he put on mma gloves. Collegiate wrestling is the most entertaining sport to watch that there is. The athleticism shown at the ncaa tournament blows everything on earth away. The reason it doesn’t translate to mma is because they are penalized for stalling, stalling is half the goal in mma.

Here’s one of the most PHYSICAL sequences of wrestling you’ll ever see 😳‼️ In overtime - Van Ness and Swiderski battled like dogs, literally going head to head several times in back and forth attacks/reattacks. Eventually Swiderski couldn’t keep up the pace and fell to known cardio merchant Shayne VAN NESS (PSU)

@WPIALwref Screenshots can lie, but you can argue it’s a takedown at this time point where Lillard is in bounds

At 165, No. 27 EJ Parco (Stanford) stuns No. 6 LJ Araujo (Nebraska) 8-7. Controversy late flips it… Parco closes with an escape and takedown to complete the comeback.

Penn State is rolling into Cleveland with SEVEN #1 Seeds. In the past decade, they've had 5 National Champs twice: the 2016-2017 and the 2021-2022 seasons. Both tied the sport's best. Nobody has ever had more than 5. Will it be the year Penn State breaks another record??

Nittany Lions on the Verge of More History?! Penn State's Josh Barr and Mitchell Mesenbrink are both heading into the NCAA's with a perfect record & 100% bonus on the year. If they bonused out through the tournament, they'd be the first ones to truly have 100% bonus for a full season in the Hodge era. "Truly" because their coach, Cael Sanderson, kinda did it himself back in 2002, but with a *. Cael had an official bonus rate of 100% his senior year, but had 2 unofficial decisions during the year. He decisioned Lee Fullhart in Midlands finals, who had already graduated, and he decisioned at the NWCA All-Star Classic. Will Barr & Mesenbrink make more history for PSU??

“He hoed it.” After Nasir Bailey’s third place finish at Big Ten’s Tom Brands was asked if it was a surprise to which the Iowa head coach had this to say: “I don’t think it’s a surprise to anyone in this program or anyone close to him but it can be a surprise to maybe some of those watching from afar. “When you’re dealing with something like that in the middle of January sometimes it can seem like it’s a long row to hoe. And he hoed it. And so good for him.” 🎥 youtu.be/P6BbmPAt6e4?si…

There only has been two of them. Talking about Two 4x Blood rounders. Two great wrestlers who just came up short of the podium on 4 occasions. Julian Ramirez (Cornell) had a career mark of 96-21. He had wins over 2x NCAA champ David Carr, NCAA champ Shane Griffith, and 2 wins over NCAA finalist Quincy Monday while winning 3 conference titles. Micky Phillippi (Pitt) had a career mark of 107-23. Phillippi had career wins over 17 different All Americans, a future NCAA champ in Byrd, and 5 NCAA finalist including 4x NCAA finalist Daton Fix. His win over Daton Fix was the only time in Daton Fix’s VERY long career that he was defeated in the regular season. I make this because, well, I love stats like this…I also make this not to shame these two in anyway; but rather celebrate the outstanding careers they had!!

We already think 133 pounds is crazy with Jax Forrest, Marcus Blaze, Ben Davino, and Aaron Seidel. Now imagine if Ryan Crookham was healthy and a part of this...

For 35 straight years, the Iowa Hawkeyes have had an NCAA Finalist. While Iowa put 3 in the Finals last year, in 2024, it was Drake Ayala who put the Hawkeyes on his back to keep the streak alive! Will the Hawkeyes keep the streak going for Year #36??
