It's #BlackHistoryMonth and we want to celebrate black poet and activist Claude McKay. Born in Jamaica, McKay came to the U.S. and eventually joined the Harlem Renaissance, writing about racial discrimination. He passed through Ellis in 1921 after living abroad for 11 years.
