@DAVIDPO62726639 @BlokeOnWheels She will get 11k from PIP then about 18/19k from universal credit on top which will cover her rent etc. Plus she won’t have to pay for medications, free public transport, limited council tax etc. I sometimes wonder why tf I’m still working 50 hours a week

I'm feeling rather pissed off this morning. There is an article on the ITV website about a woman who claimed PIP because she was housebound with crippling anxiety. She was found to have committed fraud after images of her zip lining in Mexico were uncovered. Apparently she said that 'she didn't realise you're not allowed to leave your home'. She literally told the DWP she couldn't leave home and based her claim off of that lie. The problem is, it gives all the twunts exactly the ammunition they need to paint everybody else as liars and fraudsters, particularly with regard to claims for severe anxiety and depression.

@Geniustechw pathetic sentence. 2 years for no damage at all as it was protected, yet theres scum walking the streets getting suspended sentences for various worse things than this. The UK courts are a fucking farce and judges are out of touch!

@nu74613_nugent @ds37alwaysred @BBCNews In context to the younger ones is it, and I'm nearly at that magical age myself. All these pension age increases coming in by the Gov just means one thing, more people working till 70+ and more importantly, more people popping their clogs before they can get the pension

@BBCNews The problem with the youth of today is they’re all lazy bast@rds. They all want £60k starting wages and spend most of the day on their phones. We’ve literally bred a generation on self entitled lazy idiots.

I'm sorry, everyone, I lied to you. I don't get £600/month. I actually get £614/month because of the super secret Universal Credit bonus that only this Twitter user knows about. I will now go flagellate myself in the town square to atone for my sins.

According to some of my replies over the last few days, 'nobody hates disabled people or denies their right to exist they just don't like people taking the piss'. In reality, what this really means is, they don't like the idea of us doing anything that's not absolutely necessary for our survival. So according to them, they are fine with us 'existing' as long as that's all we do, but if we dare try living, that's when the resentment kicks in. Honestly, if you think like this (and I know many of you don't because you are good people) just fuck off. It's not our fault the economy is fucked, that would be the people who promise to Brexit was going to be brilliant and bring about a new golden age for the country, and their billionaire supporters who prioritise their own profits over making sure their workforces have enough. Modern capitalist economies are actually massive pyramid schemes, and those at the top have done a fabulous job of convincing those in the middle that those at the bottom of the real problem and people continue to lap it up in their millions. I long for the day when nobody believes in such bollocks any more.

Inflation isn’t calculated on just groceries. High value goods like Apple computers, white goods and mobile phones are used to create the overall cost of inflation. The way it is calculated really skews and misrepresents what folks care about. It’s done this way to mask high inflation but has been great for the U.K. triple locked pensions….

I see why people hate @Ticketmaster. I bought 5 floor seats to see En Vogue, TLC, and Salt N Pepa. But then my friends and I decided we wanted the VIP seats. I called Ticketmaster to see if I could exchange the tickets for VIP seats, which would have meant $1000 extra. No problem. But Ticketmaster told me I can’t do that because you’re only allowed to buy a maximum of 8 tickets. Apparently even if they refunded me for the 5 tickets, it still counts against the 8-ticket maximum. Why would 5 tickets that I wouldn’t have after a refund still count against the ticket allotment? What kind of goofy, moronic policy is that? Basically, you decided you don’t want more of my money. Make it make sense.

Star Trek: Enterprise actor John Billingsley on why the show was cancelled after 4 seasons: "There was so many reasons. Star Trek fatigue. There’d been a lot of overlap, Deep Space Nine had overlap with Next Gen and Voyager had overlapped with Deep Space and here we were, not quite overlapping, but right on the heels of Voyager. I think there was some fatigue, to a certain extent. While people came and watched that first episode [of Enterprise] as opposed to the current iterations of Star Trek, I don’t think at the time it was an audience that was just chomping at the bit for more. I think they were kind of almost looking for a reason to say, ‘Yeah, I’m gonna let this go for a while.’" Do you think his assessment is accurate?

@CORSAIR Only £90. Costs like £5 to make but we have to put excess on them so we can send them to streamers who make thousands a month, so their poorer viewers can see them and buy them.

For more than four decades, miners and their families have been forced to live with unanswered questions. Today, I am formally launching the Orgreave Inquiry to uncover the truth of what happened. I pay tribute to the Orgreave Truth and Justice Campaign, the National Union of Mineworkers, and all those who campaigned so tirelessly to reach this moment.

Today was the funeral of our 93 year-old neighbour’s wife. She was 92 and they’d been married for seventy years. Their only son died two years ago and there are no grandchildren. We were the only people there. We walked in with him & he said weakly “there’s nobody here”.

Honestly at this point UK prices are just made up: How is a return train to London £170? How is a "cheap" weekend away in England suddenly £600 when I could fly abroad for that. How did £700 rent turn into £1500 for the same house? Why does my car insurance rise every year on the same car with no claims? And since when did two bags of shopping come to nearly £100? We're finished. Absolutely done. 🇬🇧

I want to be the GP who is invited to family funerals. I want to be the GP who is contacted when postnatal depression hits. I want to be the GP who is consulted as a reliable person when illness strikes and information is confusing. I want to be the GP who is trusted to advocate for patient need. I want to be the GP who is worth waiting to see. Stand with us if you want this too. Resist the Amazon Prime mentality.
