Works That Work worksthatwork.com の日本編集版が今出るのすごく良いなと思って買った。帯文良い「流行のコンセプトや成功事例ばかりがメディアを流通する。しかし、日常生活や社会環境がその必要から生み出した工夫や営みにこそ、デザインが向き合うべき課題がある」 hanmoto.com/bd/isbn/978476…

@joseph_kes Other than that, a Japanese anthology of worksthatwork magazine will come out later this summer. These days we focus on language research about all living and marginalized languages and type design development at our mother company @typotheque

@cjtype @tanyatypes @theoriginalecs These ‘pull quotes‘ were actually specifically written so you can still get a sense of the text without reading the full piece. They were not pulled from the main text. Same for captions — they provide a secondary reading, for readers in a hurry.

What is the point of pull quotes for articles served on a mobile phone? I’d rather not have to scroll further just to re read the sentences in a larger point size

I truly believe that people are social creatures and want to help others. Sometimes, they just fail to consider consequences of their actions. A thing I learned while editing @WorksThatWork magazine is that good design/action should benefit *ALL* involved parties.

Today a customer mentioned that she could get a new hardcover book online for $15. Our mission is not to shame anyone for their shopping practices, but we do feel a responsibility to educate about what it means when a new hardcover is available for $15 online.

Design in 2018 | 4. A sad loss for design in 2018 was the closure of the brilliant Dutch design journal Works That Work. It produced ten issues over fie years, all exploring "unexpected creativity” and politically charged aspects of vernacular design. instagram.com/p/Br4prvmlux0/
