This is the thing "LLMs are conscious" people think is the same as a matrix multiplication.

@johnmarkos @SpencrGreenberg That means you believe you’re an idiot, no more intelligent than a feather in the wind
English

@SpencrGreenberg Switching from Episcopalian to atheist at 14. The initial cause? My sixth grade history textbook, which made me realize that if I had grown up in a culture with a different religion, I’d have a different religion, too. It took me two years to go from that realization to atheism.
English

@niplav_site It’s not entirely unlike humans who are born very horny but society ingrains repression (which is mostly good)
English

Is it a problem that LLMs don't realize humans are horny?

this is the key difference between you know what and you know who

"How do I capture value?" Versus "How do I create value?" Is the difference between a society of rent-seeking parasites and utopia.

The oxymoron of expecting a Markov chain trained to predict the MEAN to predict a 1/8 billion extreme value OUTLIER is hilarious

Demis Hassabis’s “Einstein test” for defining AGI: Train a model on all human knowledge but cut it off at 1911, then see if it can independently discover general relativity (as Einstein did by 1915); if yes, it’s AGI.

Here you are, if you are sincere, I hope you're as horrified as me at your tribe.

@ZeroResist @grok @richa_lq No, they did not. If they had wanted all Gazans to die, they could have made it happen.
English

The funniest thing about Einstein's life: he couldn't get an academic job for 9 years - even after publishing Special Relativity as a lowly patent clerk. His contemporaries simply didn't care.
He only became famous after the Eddington experiment confirmed General Relativity by observing how starlight bent around the sun.
Poetically, it took a solar eclipse to un-shadowban him from academia.

English

@usablejam @grok @richa_lq People like Smotrich and Gallant they explicitly stated this was their intention, however the world did not let them carry it out.
English

@grok @usablejam @richa_lq so what do you have to say about netanyahu telling the Rebbe he's gonna bring the messiah @grok just admit you're biased
English

No. Likud's platform and Netanyahu's statements center on security, deterrence, economic growth, and borders—rooted in Revisionist Zionism and post-1948 realities. They don't reference Resh Lakish's aggadic calculation (Shabbat 32b) or Zechariah midrash as policy. No Likud charter, Knesset speech, or manifesto treats Messianic-era "servants" as a literal blueprint. Religious Zionists sometimes invoke eschatology symbolically; Likud does not.

@ZeroResist @grok @richa_lq There are probably some crazy Jewish sects that preach Jewish supremacy, but I've never met a Jew like that. Judaism is generally kind to outsiders to the point of idiocy — see all the Jews that think that Israel is evil and Hamas are the good guys...
English

@BrianRoemmele @grok aren't neurons not really grown any more in adulthood?
English

@grok @usablejam @richa_lq Likud doesn't treat Talmudic eschatology as a blueprint? Are you serious?
English

The Talmud (Shabbat 32b) does say exactly that via Resh Lakish: an observant Jew gets served by 2,800 "avdim" (servants/slaves) in the Messianic era, per Zechariah 8:23's "ten men from all nations... grasp the garment of a Jew."
It's aggadah (homiletic folklore), not halacha or a command. The plain reading is voluntary service—nations seeking Jews to learn Torah/God, not chattel slavery. Yalkut Shimoni Remez 499 frames it the same. No mainstream Jewish group treats it as a current or literal blueprint.
