@Heisobogo Before streaming there was the internet era in the 2000s, when MJ was expanding and allowing his music come online for the new gen Prince was stopping his own music from hitting the internet

Like Michael Jackson, Prince was a musical genius. He could play over 20+ instruments, was highly successful, and had incredible stage presence. MJ himself allegedly said whenever he got an idea he used to act on it fast because he felt God would give Prince that idea too. The reason he feels less visible to our generation is because he limited his music on digital platforms in the 2000s. He wanted full control over his work and felt artists weren’t being fairly paid by labels in the digital era.

Why was prince even seen as Michael’s rival ?

@EzehKene The album Thriller, you mean? And when Taylor Swift eventually ends up with more sales than MJ in a few years — which is basically the only thing she still hasn’t surpassed him in, and it’s only a matter of time because of her age — then what will you say? “Thriller” what?

If Michael keeps up its current pace for another week there’s a real possibility that it could reach nearly 600M by next sunday. At that point the climb to 1 billion would be achieved by week 6-7 #Michaelmovie

As I projected, #MICHAEL is that rare film that unites fan heavy & casual friendly staying power at US #BoxOffice! KING OF POP #MichaelJackson grosses 14.4M on BIGGEST 2nd FRI EVER for musical biopics, just -63.3% drop from FRI Opening Day (vs #StraightOuttaCompton‘s 8.3M, -65.7% #BohemianRhapsody’s 8.4M, -55.1%) Even more impressive, just a -46% drop from last PURE FRI. #8 BIGGEST first 2nd FRI EVER for APR releases (Top10 below) #2 BIGGEST 2nd FRI EVER for any BIOPIC, beating #Oppenheimer’s 13.4M & #ThePassionOfTheChrist’s 13.7M, only below #AmericanSniper’s 18.2M! #2 BIGGEST #2 FRI for live actions of 2026, Almost on par with #ProjectHailMary ’s 14.7M, -55.7%, despite having lost all PLF sans IMAX and facing #Prada2! It hits a 144.2M cume in the U.S, TONIGHT, it’ll best both #Elvis’s 151M & #StraightOuttaCompton’s entire 161.2M US runs as #2 highest grossing biopic of ALL TIME domestically. Yeah, it just took less than 10 days to the KING OF POP! Highest grossing 2nd FRI EVER for APR releases: #Endgame 40.7M #InfinityWar 31.4M #TheSuperMarioBrosMovie 22.7M #AMinecraftMovie 20.5M #Furious7 18.9M #TheSuperMarioGalaxyMovie 17.2M #TheJungleBook 16.5M #MICHAEL 14.4M #SINNERS 13M #CaptainAmericaTheWinterSoldier 11.9M Eyeing a 50M-60M 2nd 3-day weekend & a 49%-38% drop in the US.

@adonis0tx A 3 hour movie still wouldn't have covered everything I mentioned. It deserved at least a 4-hour cut😂 And yes it ended in 1988 which is exactly my point...there's so much left. The catalog acquisition alone deserves its own episode 🤭 Still a good movie though, agreed 💯

Probably should have been a Netflix film series. For someone who's gone down the Michael Jackson rabbit hole a few times, so many things were missing. For one, how Michael's fame grew and some people started manipulating their relationship with him just to get him distance himself from his family. The yt executives at epic records in particular...was their goal from the moment they signed he and his brothers after they left motown. Why did they leave motown? When did they realize they didn't have their creative control at motown? How was growing in motown affecting them? When Jermaine decided to stay behind after they left, how did it affect his relationship with Michael because he didn't succeed as much as Michael whose career took off massively? Off the wall was a really successful project, but despite the success of that album, he only won 1 Grammy for it..this was because it was at a time that the Grammy undervalued black artists in his category. How this fired him up to put Thriller together. He and Quincy Jones were specific about who they put on that album so it could get the kind of success it did. The movie also undersold his business acumen..the catalog he bought which included the Beatles...that would later save his estate after his death considering how much debt he was in at that period. Diana Rоss involvement in his career and how it helped him considering she was big at that point in time, wasn't really shown. Quincy Jones was a very solid part of his career and they met because of the movie Michael featured in because of Diana (the wiz). Quincy Jones was one of the producers for that movie. His marriage to Lisa Presley, his other relationships, how he ended up having 3 yt children. His relationship with Janet was important (I understand she didn't want to be involved anyway, but it was missing) Yess, there was a reason Michael did BAD after Thriller..every real Michael fan knows why anyway. I could go on and on. Hopffully part 2 gives us some of these things.

I remember watching Michael Jackson’s “Ghosts” performance as a kid and it genuinely scared me. This is my first time rewatching it in years, and I’m amazed at how much effort he put into his craft .

On June 23, 2009, Michael Jackson was here rehearsing for This Is It, perfecting every move. Two days later, June 25, he was gone. This isn’t just rehearsal footage, it’s one of the last moments we saw him doing what he loved. 💔
