@josephpowell Well done Joe. My family had this experience in California last year, and it was a blessing. The rules here are very similar to those in the bill before Parliament. They work, and they are humane. Many families will be better able to make decisions thoughtfully & with dignity.

Tomorrow, MPs will vote on the assisted dying bill.
I want to thank all the residents who have shared their views on this sensitive issue, especially those who have opened up about their own experiences of friends and family receiving end-of-life care.
After many conversations with residents and careful thought, I have decided to vote in favour of the bill, and I have outlined my reasoning in this letter.
I am a passionate believer in public participation in our democracy, and your engagement has played a key role in forming my decision. I believe if passed into law, end-of-life care in Britain will be fairer, safer and more compassionate for all.
