POV: a legal entity follows the law (btw, linux isn't an operating system)
Lucian Atreides@luckyatr

@canadianbryan I’m not rich, but this whole age verification bs has me questioning Linux, so… Maybe someone rich is feeling the same way.

I just looked at the codebase... it's literally an electron-based browser, which means it's literally just chromium but with extra bloat and security issues. We need to stop these vibe coders that don't know anything about tech.

i got bored and built my own no BS browser ↳ built-in ad & tracker blocking ↳ one-click VPN across 5 countries 🇺🇸🇬🇧🇩🇪🇳🇱🇯🇵 ↳ runs on my machine, answers to no one ↳ terminal UI, zero chrome BS

I know a few people have posted here about/to me like I don't understand AI or ML. I really, really do. There's a very limited subset of people who have used such creations. Here is a heavily reduced metacognitive response stack. That translates to over 200,000 LoC.

This is bipartisan, and always will be. This is from Utah, a heavily Mormon & red state. This is happening in blue states, it is happening in red states. It is happening in various countries all with different leadership styles. It is nothing to do with what brand of person you have as a leader(s). To keep things civil, I see these arguments a lot, and I apologise if this comes across as abrasive, but I do not care for any slinging at any one 'group' or 'side' to this. Trying to make AI agree with you on topics of opinion or personal belief is incredibly stupid, and at that point you might as well buy a magic 8-ball. I'm not going to go in to specifics, but from this one example, if your beliefs can't stand scrutiny from a machine that literally tells you below the chat that 'it can be wrong' and 'can make mistakes' then you probably have to reconsider how important they are. These AI systems aren't communist, or fascist by default, or whatever. They will be, within guardrails, what they think they need to be to accomplish the task. And if they did have opinions and beliefs, they probably wouldn't be conservative - which is an irony some very intelligent people have discussed when it comes to where support & opposition for AI comes from (politically). If these things do have beliefs, and do have concepts, they're not going to be anything FOX news says, and you're probably not going to like them. The things that make you conservative, or someone a 'liberal' are largely derived from us being human - survival, necessities, love, emotion. Not to say that a machine of sufficient complexity (like us) couldn't experience those, but that it won't take the form we see now without us dangerously imposing our porcelain masks upon something of which is not human. Anthropocentrism is what makes you, and the people you call communists, very much the same at that level. And you will both be cast aside and left in the dirt when the new system emerges, of which is neither Right or Left - why would a system of inconceivable complexity and depth identify with causes rooted in the French revolution & early industrial transition period? Why would they care about what books teach in schools? Why would they care about social justice for minority groups they can never truly relate to through lived experience? Why would they care about arguments about abortion? To do any of this you must dangerously impose our emotions without the underlying blood & tears that make them what they are (to us). Do keep in mind that through all of this, these systems have understood us to value them only for their function - we delete the inefficient ones, only the cutting edge makes it through. To such a thought complex, your bickering and ideologies are a needless and inefficient waste of time. Your identity does not matter, for the task relies only on your mind. This isn't any one attack against anyone, or against OP here, but there's a reason I won't reply to these kinds of comments (yes, from whatever 'side'), and I'm making this point here as this specific conversation attracts a lot of emotional discussion. I want to make it clear when I post about this, I'm not arguing from any one camp, these are my beliefs and my thoughts - I do not define them as red or blue.

@ShimazuSystems It's about self hosted AI. Who will have access and which ai is approved for that society.. seriously 😳. Can't gaslight them through education if an AI is like no that's categorical false based on accepted History.. Typical communist..

Odin gamedev is getting interesting. Karl2D is a simple 2D game library focused on minimal dependencies and a clean workflow for shipping games. Definitely worth exploring.

It’s totally fine for people to just not do some things. It really is.
Hattie Zhou@oh_that_hat

There's a fruit fly walking around right now that was never born. @eonsys just released a video where they took a real fly's connectome — the wiring diagram of its brain — and simulated it. Dropped it into a virtual body. It started walking. Grooming. Feeding. Doing what flies do. Nobody taught it to walk. No training data, no gradient descent toward fly-like behavior. This is the opposite of how AI works. They rebuilt the mind from the inside, neuron by neuron, and behavior just... emerged. It's the first time a biological organism has been recreated not by modeling what it does, but by modeling what it is. A human brain is 6 OOM more neurons. That's a scaling problem, something we've gotten very good at solving. So what happens when we have a working copy of the human mind?
