When money moves but assets don’t (or vice versa), bad things happen. Continuing #CantonLexicon 👉Today’s term: Atomic DvP/Atomic Settlement On legacy rails, cash and assets often move in different systems, at different times, with reconciliations in between. That gap is settlement risk. On @CantonNetwork, atomic settlement means all legs of a trade either complete together or not at all. In a Delivery‑versus‑Payment (DvP) trade, the security token and the cash (or tokenized deposit/stablecoin) are exchanged in one atomic transaction coordinated by Canton’s synchronization layer - no partial settlement, no “one leg fails, the other doesn’t”. Because Canton is a network of networks, those legs can sit in different apps (repo, collateral, stablecoin, fund registry) and still settle in a single shot. Each participant only sees their side of the deal, but everyone can cryptographically trust that either everything happened or nothing did. In simple words: You get the bond only if your cash arrives, and your cash leaves only if the bond shows up - no one is ever left hanging.
