,,What is the Goal of Bittensor? Bittensor aims to create a peer-to-peer marketplace that incentivizes the production of machine intelligence. Through cutting-edge techniques like mixture of experts and knowledge distillation, the platform establishes a collaborative network where knowledge producers can sell their work, and consumers can purchase this knowledge to enhance their own AI models. By fostering a „cognitive economy,“ Bittensor seeks to facilitate knowledge sharing among researchers, encouraging the development of more powerful AI models. The ultimate goal is to open new frontiers in the advancement of AI by aggregating individual contributions of knowledge. As computers contribute their AI models and training to the Bittensor network, they are rewarded with Tao." This beautiful overview of the Bittensor Network is from the Bittensor.org website (unofficial, runned by $TAO community members: @serdarplg and @talesoftao). If you are new to $TAO and still conducting research on Bittensor, you definitely should check out this site, it will help you better and easier understand the whole ecosystem of Bittensor Network.

The Internet is what it is -- a public infrastructure with open standards -- because of AI Gore. Thank you @algore ! He was at the origin of the legislation that opened what was then Arpanet to the public, based on TCP/IP, DNS, and other open standards. The lobbying pressure for proprietary approaches was from giant telecom companies, such as AT&T. When Al Gore and Bill Clinton held hearings about the "information superhighway", in 1993,the CEO of AT&T said "leave it to us". Al Gore said "no!" If AT&T had regulatorily captured the information superhighway, it would have been based on ATM, ISDN, metered access, and probably would have provided little content neutrality (Big Telecom never liked content neutrality). It took until 1996 for AT&T to embrace the internet with its WorldNet ISP product, one of the first to offer unmetered, unlimited access.

'Imagine if the internet itself had been invented by a Silicon Valley company.' What would happen? Imagine this would happen for #ai. Hence #bittensor $tao bittensor.com/about

How did #Bitcoin capture all this compute and become the worlds largest supercomputer ? "The most powerful supercomputer in the world reaches 1102 petaflops, Bitcoin network in comparison reaches 80704290.84 Petaflops. Granted that a majority of this computing power is in the form of custom ASIC's, but the figure is really staggering. And all of the 80704290.84 Petaflops, consume 73.12 TWh to repeatedly calculate SHA256 ! What could be the world's most powerful network does absolutely nothing but crunch hashes billions of times to discard almost all of the results anyway. Sheer waste of computing power." What if we could use this similar computing power to do something more useful? $tao (bittensor.org) -- here you go: @opentensor | bittensor.com

Leaked Google document: “We Have No Moat, And Neither Does OpenAI” The most interesting thing I've read recently about LLMs - a purportedly leaked document from a researcher at Google talking about the huge strategic impact open source models are having simonwillison.net/2023/May/4/no-…
