@mboyle1 I think very few people actually read The Art of the Deal. Trump operates the same way he talked about and did in the book. Just on a larger scale. He wants people to believe he will do something big. If people don't think that, he has no hand to play.

There is less than zero chance Donald Trump will use nuclear weapons unless the USA is fired upon with a nuclear weapon first. Trump is a peacemaker at heart and despises nukes; he would probably willingly unilaterally disarm if so many adversary regimes (like Russia, China, North Korea etc) didn’t have nukes.

My post was a bit of dark sarcasm. I don't know what will happen. What I do know is that I read Trump's books many years ago and he detailed repeatedly his negotiating style and it goes like this: You ask for much more than what you will settle for and you present a consequence of not getting it that is far worse than what you would actually do. It forces the issue and makes everyone very uncomfortable. The end result is something in the middle, but far better than a 'normal' negotiation would achieve. He probably wanted to say that they either open the Strait or he will drop a nuke on Tehran (with no intention of doing it). Melania and Rubio probably talked him out of it. I think he wants it over and is raising the stakes to make it happen.
