Brilliant engagement from our #SBConference2024 delegates. Our @HarmlessUK research found gender disparities in first and lasting responses to suicide bereavement. Women found to score much higher on trauma and depression. Helpful to pose the question why? to everyone today.

World #SuicidePrevention Day. Suicide is a global problem - an estimated 700,000 take their own lives each year. Fuelled by poverty, abuse, mental ill-health, isolation. Prevention is possible, urgent & a shared task. #WSPD2024

A useful reminder that different types of proximity to a suicide can have a profound impact on those exposed to, affected or directly bereaved. Services must consider all individuals/groups related to this to prepare a sensitive response to suicide #SBConference2024

On #WorldSuicidePreventionDay2024 let's continue changing the narrative. How can we start the conversation? Use the word suicide. Reach out to someone we're worried about. De-stigmatise help-seeking. It's awful to feel like life isn't worth living. But help is available 💜
