Sikhs are mobilizing humanitarian aid in Los Angeles following devastating wildfires that have impacted the city. Gurdwaras & Sikh orgs, like Khalsa Aid, have led efforts to provide various supplies to shelters, firefighters, & civilians. "So far in the initial 36 hours we have partnered with Pan Pacific Recreation Center, The Reality Center, Black Lantern, YMCA Koreatown, Silverlake Lounge, All Saints Episcopal Church, Arcardia Community Center, Friends in Deed, and Fearless Church," @KhalsaAidUSA shares with Baaz. These organizations are helping evacuees from the fires with basic needs that have been supplied in part by Sikhs. Aid has included water, sandwiches, hot meals, blankets and pillow sets, feminine hygiene products, medication for both adults and kids, first aid kits, and non perishable goods. Efforts also now include making 500+ hot meals for delivery tonight to first responders and fire fighters. In addition to supplies, Sikhs have "been on the ground helping distribution centers run resources to evacuation centers and shelters - essentially being manpower when not out buying more supplies and rations," Khalsa Aid shares.

The media must do better when it comes to reporting on violence against women & girls and femicide. Survivors, victims & their families deserve more. Women’s Aid is thinking of Harshita's family, who will be grieving her tragic loss, & join them in centring her as an individual.
