Watching a Short-eared owl hunting over marshy grass at ballyhoe has definitely been my favourite birding experience so far in my short three years of birding. Amazing find by @BMcCloskey_98 . I got plenty of photos but here is just one. What a bird, mesmerising.

@cianbirder @BirdWatchIE Thanks Cian, spotted from a window in my house upstairs,4 birds in total 2 kites. All the apps were telling me marsh but I wasn’t confident. Owen Foley confirmed, saw it on the marsh last week but wasn’t confident. Thanks for the detailed confirmation.

@drumleck @BirdWatchIE Nice one! The marsh harrier looks like a 2cy male. Very similar to a bird I’ve had recently in north Wexford plumage wise!
