Great recovery! Orphaned Herring Gull 24N:C from Cork City was taken in by Wildlife Rescue Cork and released on 20th August. On 27th Nov it was seen on San Lorenzo beach in Gijon, Spain. Just the 7th Irish Herring Gull to be seen in Spain! @_BTO @BirdWatchIE @NPWSIreland

Latest session at Clogheen Marsh was a small net set but still 67 birds of 13 species, with ridiculous number of Chiffchaff still present! 16 ringed inc a classic Siberian, also two Redwing (Scandi and Icelandic) and a retrap Firecrest from 17/11 @NPWSIreland @_BTO @BirdWatchIE

Extremely worrying that 🇮🇪 Independent Advisory Committee for National Restoration Plan is not seeing any commitment to funding so far for the NRP. The €3.14bn climate & nature fund was the biggest hope for funding it but govt said no. Absolute disgrace. irishtimes.com/environment/20…

@tajraasi Pheasants aren't native to Ireland and are released from captivity in large quantities each year for shooting purposes. They are not natural in an Irish context and can cause significant environmental harm. Most are killed by guns, traffic or inability to fend for themselves.

@BirdWatchIE Disagree here, buzzards are wiping out the pheasant population along with rabbits and hares. Had all on our farm until the buzzard population exploded a few years ago, unfortunately none to be seen now. Have buzzards nesting nearby in fact.
