@BarackObama Supreme Court limits Voting Rights Act. The Supreme Court has delivered a 6-3 decision limiting the use of the landmark Voting Rights Act.

Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach. The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

If your passport is due for renewal anytime soon, you may want to get that renewal processed as soon as possible, at least before the State Department begins issuing the newest editions of US passports. Why? Well, no modern American passport has ever before featured a sitting president's image. In fact, no foreign passport features the head of state of any country in the world, either. So, naturally, Donald Trump is about to change that — with his scowling inauguration portrait superimposed over the Declaration of Independence, all signed in gold, in what many Americans would consider the desecration of the 250th anniversary of America edition of US passports. The Bulwark has learned that the State Department is finalizing a redesign of the U.S. passport to include Trump's likeness on the inside cover. A "limited run" of 25,000 passports is reportedly being planned. The White House confirmed the design by sending reporters a link to a Fox News exclusive. A Georgetown University passport historian called the decision "wacky." That may be the understatement of the year. The current passport's inside cover features Francis Scott Key watching the bombardment of Fort McHenry, alongside the closing lines of the Star-Spangled Banner. The back cover features the Earth, the moon, the Voyager spacecraft, and a quote from 19th-century activist Anna Julia Cooper: "The cause of freedom is not the cause of a race or a sect, a party or a class — it is the cause of humankind." Trump is replacing that with his own face. Scowling. In gold. This fits a pattern so obvious it barely needs explaining. Trump's signature will appear on U.S. currency. His face is on National Park passes. His name is on the Kennedy Center, the U.S. Institute of Peace, a new class of battleships, a prescription drug website, custodial children's savings accounts, and the One Big Beautiful Bill. His personal branding appears on federal buildings. The White House East Wing was demolished to build him a ballroom. And now his face goes in your passport. The document you need to leave the country. The document Caitlyn Jenner can't use anymore because of the Trump administration's policies. The document that the SAVE America Act would require every American to present before casting a vote. Think about that last part carefully. Trump wants his face on the document you'll need to prove you're allowed to vote. The document that, thanks to his own policies, millions of Americans either don't have or can no longer use accurately. The cause of freedom, Anna Julia Cooper wrote, is the cause of humankind. That Trump replaced her quote with his signature tells us everything we need to know about Trump’s attitude toward freedom. Hundreds of Capitol Police Officers were injured. 4 Capitol Police Officers Died. Trump has encouraged his supporters to “Knock the hell out of them” referencing protestors at his rallies. Trump even stated he pay their legal fees. This is the same motherfucker calling for the firing of Jimmy Kimmel because of a comedy skit. The same motherfucker who just had James Comey arrested for posting a meme on Twitter. If anyone needs to tone down the rhetoric. It’s this piece of shit.
