@VanuatuDan @maz_jovanovich @NZAirForce Having done the Deep Freeze mission, the challenges are weather (really cold, high winds, dark, no horizon), landing on an ice surface that isn’t prepared like a runway, plus it’s really far from another place to land.

@maz_jovanovich @NZAirForce Hey @maz_jovanovich, can you talk a little bit about the particular challenges? Most pilots commenting on this just say, "man, that's *hard*" and don't go further. So what differentiates this from e.g. a winter landing at Alert? Not dismissing the difficulty, just want details.

I suppose you could do this, but there really isn’t any reason to. If enough people get convinced to do it, fares will rise, everything will be overbooked & you’ll generally have a hard time actually getting a ticket… …and then the airline will substitute the equipment at the last minute – which they have a right to do – and you’ll lose your money if you refuse to get on. Let’s not cause a panic when there isn’t a reason for it. You only hurt yourself.
