👏 Today, we are celebrating the 2-year anniversary of the groundbreaking of the EAA Reservoir Project. 🖋️ In July 2025, @GovRonDeSantis announced that the State of Florida and the @USArmy reached a landmark agreement to accelerate Everglades restoration, including the EAA Reservoir Project and accelerated the timeline of the project from 2034 to 2029. ✂️ Since the agreement was signed, the project has already reached major milestones including the State of Florida’s groundbreaking of the new inflow pump station at the EAA Reservoir Project in November 2025 and the @USACEHQ and @JaxStrong ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of the inflow/outflow canal and the seepage canal in September 2025. 💧 The EAA Reservoir Project, located south of Lake Okeechobee, will store over 78 billion gallons of water—larger than Manhattan—and deliver up to 470 billion gallons of clean water annually to the Everglades and Florida Bay. It also supports the Biscayne Aquifer, the primary source of drinking water for South Florida. 🌱 This project is designed to send more clean water south, restore ecosystems, and significantly reduce harmful discharges to the Caloosahatchee and St. Lucie estuaries. ✨ Thank you to all of the hard-working staff who made these milestones possible!

Today marks 25 years since CERP – the largest ecosystem restoration effort in the world – became law. A quarter-century later, the goal of CERP – to restore the natural flow of water south through the #Everglades to #FloridaBay – is within reach and closer than ever before.

#WildlifeConservationDay falls near the 25th anniversary of CERP, America’s most ambitious ecosystem restoration plan. Conserving & restoring the #Everglades is not only critical for Florida’s one-of-kind environment, but it's vital to our state’s thriving water-based economy.

Florida reached a historic agreement with the Trump Administration earlier this year to expedite and advance Everglades restoration. Today, I was pleased to announce a milestone in Everglades restoration made possible by our cooperation with the federal government. Florida is now breaking ground on the new EAA Inflow Pump Station, an essential component of the EAA Reservoir project. This is the second Everglades restoration project to commence since the agreement with the Army Corps of Engineers last summer, which has empowered Florida to step up our Everglades restoration efforts. Today’s groundbreaking marks the 80th milestone event in Everglades restoration that has taken place since 2019, thanks to our leadership and commitment to getting this done.

Today, @GovRonDeSantis & @SFWMD broke ground on the #EAAReservoir Inflow Pump Station. #Florida smartly leveraged its partnership w/the federal gov't & announced a historic agreement to take on the completion of the reservoir, with this project being part of that.

The new agreement with #Florida and the @USACEHQ under the Trump administration is already showing results, with more accelerated progress being made on #EvergladesRestoration.
