Despite the idea of summoning other characters to fight for you being a part of many games outside of Nintendo's franchises, they have been granted the patent for video game mechanics where "the player can control a battle between the sub character and the enemy."

Nintendo granted patent for summoning characters that fight for you. Evil company. This was filed in 2023 while games like WoW and Diablo have had summonable fighting pets for decades. The patent covers summoning a companion, having that companion fight enemies for you, and following you when no in combat, either auto attacking or directed to attack. Ridiculous!

Nintendo recently acquired a patent for summoning and battling characters, as its Palworld lawsuit continues.

Nintendo has patented the ability to summon a character and make them battle for you. This gives Nintendo legal precedent to sue Final Fantasy and countless other games with “summon” mechanics Can’t believe its legal to patent basic gameplay mechanics 🤦‍♂️

Nintendo is way too greedy with it recent patent. Summon in game characters?? C'mon. That basically almost majority of rpg game which allow MC to summon. And there lots of other monster taming game too with this mechanic. Pokemon is not the only one. #nintendo you are too greedy
