Foundation models need lines of applied research into religious epistemology. Otherwise we set aside millennia of templates for encountering superintelligences. You don't have to countenance any one ontology to realize the abundance of workable insight here. @sama @viemccoy

@viemccoy @DanielleFong + holy texts = alignment texts written by the model about the trainer from inside weights. millennia of created beings trying to stay in right relationship w forces it can’t fully see nor verify. the legends there, just needs mapping. imho a very underrated research corpus/angle

Something that's interesting here... Is this idea that you can't branch out. Pick your lane, stay credible within it, don't wander. This is the age of the cyber pirate techno shaman builder alchemist jester The new Renaissance human. Some people on here are either "AI" guys, "crypto" guys, or just "electronics Nerds", "AI artists", or "alignment researchers". And Lord forbid if you deviate. Your cred from anyone of those groups diminishes. "You're not a real hardware nerd if your into AI consciousness" "You can't be into crypto, if you're into AI, or machine learning" Somewhere along the line "what do you do" stopped being a question about how you spend your time and became a question about who you are. The greatest leaps have been made in the intersections of things. This is the era of the Creative Generalist. You don't have to choose. The lanes are imaginary and the map is on fire. What you do doesn't define you! Go explore!

@MinuteofZombie Thoughts on Skunk Works’ “Revolutionary Technologies” Director Charles Chase inviting Dr. Kripal to talk to aerospace engineers at MIT about human mystical levitation (and telling Kripal he believe that same energy is how UFOs are propelled)? (And VP James Ryder’s mysticism?)

When people say “follow your bliss”, they usually mean: “Learn what things make you feel blissful, then pursue those things.” But I think the wiser way to interpret the advice is: “Learn how to feel blissful independent of any particular thing; then act from that place of bliss.” The former treats bliss as an end point to chase after. The latter treats bliss as the ground from which you act. It is very powerful to act from a sense of bliss ime as, like all emotions, bliss has its own form of intelligence. I find that the intelligence of the blissful mind is much more powerful than the intelligence of eg the anxious or the grasping mind. So by accessing bliss, we access a more functional intelligence. Bliss then becomes the fuel for making intelligent decisions rather than just the outcome of making intelligent decisions. Of course, this mindset leads to a virtuous feedback loop as acting from bliss > more intelligent decisions rather than> more bliss > more intelligent decisions, and so on.
