Sage Ingram is one of the more underrated but highly explosive 2026 running back prospects in the Southeast, and his recent performances have firmly placed him on the recruiting radar. At 6 ‘0, 197 pounds, Ingram brings a rare combination of 4.45 speed and power, giving him the kind of physical and athletic profile that translates extremely well to the next level. A standout at University Lab (LA)—a proven program for high-level talent—Ingram is not only a football standout but also a track and field athlete, which clearly shows in how smoothly and explosively he moves in space. His speed is game-breaking, and he knows how to use it. Ingram showed elite change-of-direction ability and lateral agility, slicing through second-level defenders and creating big plays when given any amount of daylight. His ability to hit top speed within a few steps makes him extremely dangerous on outside zone runs, screens, and pitch plays. But what makes him more than just a speed back is his size—at nearly 200 pounds, he can finish runs, absorb contact, and push piles when needed. He’s slippery through arm tackles and has the balance to bounce off would-be defenders without losing momentum. His footwork in tight spaces is advanced, and he showed excellent field vision and patience to let blocks develop before bursting into open lanes. As a pass-catcher, Ingram is comfortable and natural, which only raises his ceiling as a potential three-down back at the college level. He reads leverage well and attacks gaps with confidence, showing he’s a student of the game as much as an athlete. His size-speed combination is rare for a 2026 back, and it makes him extremely difficult to match up with in one-on-one situations. If you’re looking for a high-upside, big-play threat with true next-level traits, Sage Ingram checks every box. He may not be as widely known yet, but that won’t last long—his skill set is built for Saturday football, and programs across the country should be paying attention.
