我算是亲眼看到，中年女性失业的困境，可能比外界想象的要沉重得多。
一个朋友的姐姐，82年出生，今年44岁，北科大热力学硕士。她保养得当、外形端庄，完全不像同龄人。2024年春天被裁，到现在快两年了——一份工作都没找到。
起初我还劝她放宽要求、别纠结待遇，后来才发现这话有多苍白。她早就不挑，说只要够基本生活费就愿意干，可两年投了几百封简历，几乎零回应。
试着打电话问，对方直言其实根本没有招聘计划，网上的岗位可能只是挂着。找老同学老同事帮忙，反馈更现实：大家所在的公司都在缩编，自己都朝不保夕，除非能带项目或带客户进来，否则很难开口。
上个月听朋友说，她已经彻底放弃回到职场的念头了。准备在附近盘个小店面，开一个几平米的早餐铺子，靠外卖平台接单维持生活，再闲下去真要抑郁了。
她至今想不通：业务过硬、精力充沛、外在条件也不差，怎么就被职场彻底关在门外了？
读了二十多年书拼来的学历和专业，就这么变成无用功？
不知道是哪里出了问题。

Realize on the propaganda front..China doesn’t even really try.
The are mostly wrapped up in their own Sinosphere. Their own lives, their business, their entertainers, their music and movies, etc.
Then pictures of their brand new cities show up on X and people lose their shit and call
it propaganda.

Having lived in China 20+ years and watched them gain competence and then utter domination over so many aspects of tech, design, entertainment, finance, etc - and then look at how poorly they manage external perceptions (call it PR or propaganda or whatever)... And you realize they aren't even trying to convince the world outside of how great things are here. Meanwhile the US dedicates 1.3 BILLION USD to convincing people how terrible China is? All I know is it's going to be a very rude awakening for a lot of people when the curtains finally open.

I rarely travel by train in europe.
To be honest I might’ve never done a train journey for more than 1h there.
But it’s because it doesn’t make any sense, the trains are so inefficient and a flight is literally 4x faster and cheaper
Now I’m in china and had to go from Chongqing to Zhangjiajie so taking the train was a nobrainer.
Like it was 20€ and only 2hours.
The rail network here is crazy comeon the rest of the world needs to lock in.
