Rep. Nancy Mace to @mychaelschnell: “Pam Bondi's briefing does not end the Epstein investigation. It doesn't even slow it down. The American people deserve a full accounting of Jeffrey Epstein's criminal network, the rich and powerful who used it, and the institutions that protected them.” 1/

NEW: Epstein lawyer Darren Indyke will testify before House Oversight today. And based on what witnesses, including Epstein victims, told the FBI about their interactions with him, there are ongoing, pressing questions about what Indyke knew and when. ms.now/news/as-epstei…

And now DOJ has filed their anticipated "motion to withdraw motion to voluntarily dismiss [the] appeals." In a single paragraph, Deputy Associate Attorney General Abhishek Kambli -- who also signed yesterday's motion -- attempts to explain DOJ's abrupt about-face, writing: 2/

As first reported by @nytmike and @DevlinBarrett, DOJ has now informed the four law firms that successfully fought Trump's executive orders -- Susman Godfrey, Jenner & Block, Wilmer Hale, and Perkins Coie -- that it will not abandon its appeal after all. DOJ's brief's due 3/6.

What’s more, all the documents that DOJ *did* release from the Trump accuser are literally also *from the Maxwell discovery*

And here's that Jan. 4 memo from Deputy AG Todd Blanche to the DOJ lawyers doing the "first-level" review of the Epstein files prior to their production: justice.gov/media/1426281/…

BREAKING MS NOW: @lawofruby reports DOJ directed reviewers to flag FBI interview memos before it produced the latest Epstein files. That follows MS NOW reporting that DOJ appears to have withheld memos on three interviews with a woman who accused Epstein and Trump of assault.

How the FBI & DOJ handle allegations of sexual abuse and trafficking — and whether that process has meaningfully changed since she first tried to report Epstein’s crimes in 1996 — is the crux of Epstein survivor Maria Farmer’s current lawsuit. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.usco…

I am so deeply angry at all the administrations that failed Epstein‘s survivors. This should be the beginning of a larger conversation about how the FBI handles allegations of sexual assault, rape and sex trafficking. We need accountability and a thorough autopsy of everything that went wrong. We need public hearings

The point @JasonLeopold is making is that even when deliberative process is a permissible ground for withholding it is a) overused, and b) still permissible, not mandatory, and is totally up to the producing agency/others with equities.

All told, the letter likely will do little to quell Congress’s anger toward DOJ or convince the survivors their voices matter at Main Justice. And it seems like the ball’s in Congress’s court. FIN.

NEW: DOJ sent Congress a six-page “report,” as required by Section 3 of the Epstein Files Transparency Act. But DOJ’s list of “government officials” and “politically exposed persons” included in the produced materials is, like the redactions themselves, too much and not enough. 1/
