I started to buy property in Miami and most of the owners didn't live here and laughed at my ideas. They had given up on the city. In my opinion Miami frequently gets overlooked. They gladly sold me the property and called me many names-- crazy, "eccentric", clueless.

I don't even think energy utilities should be able to claim they have a "cheaper rate" by creating fixed fees.
Making the right decision as brainless as possible for the consumer is how we get an efficient economy.

@moritheil @NoLongerBennett The part I don’t understand is my airline ticket comprises innumerable stupid fees and taxes. Yet the price I’m quoted includes them. Tax away! Good for you, I’m a tourist on your roads and drinking your water. But why do hotels get to hide this fee when I’m shopping? It’s a lie!

@sebastiangood @NoLongerBennett In some cases, e.g. Miami resort taxes, the fees are imposed by local law and go directly to the government.
In other cases, the fees are an end run around properly listing inclusive nightly rates, but in those cases the fees themselves are taxable.

Kids are bullied, beaten, do drugs and are and sexually assaulted in public schools, yet some people are most concerned about a them being 'awkward'.
Plus, anecdotal experience is useless in the face of widespread data, which supports homeschooling.

This is naive and pretends Turkey actually puts the rule of law first rather than personal relationships with powerful people first.
Musk's binary, while flawed, is a much more realistic approach to how strongmen deal with billionaires (cow them or crush them.)
