I can't help but read this with a knot in my stomach. Femicide and all manner of gender apartheid are on the rise globally, horrifyingly amplified anywhere there is kinetic conflict. The SAVE Act, which severely restricts voting access for anyone who does not have ID's that match with their birth certificates (which, of course, disproportionately affects married women) passed by the House on February 11th. I has not yet passed the Senate. But, as of Today, Trump has threatened not so sign any other bills into law until the Senate passes it. Women are dying in states that have banned abortion. South Carolina, Oklahoma, and North Dakota have passed laws that would categorize abortion as murder and thus subject women to the death penalty. Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (MMIW) statistics reveal a crisis where Native American/Alaska Native women face a murder rate up to 10 times higher than the national average. And, then there's sex trafficking. The Epstein scandal represents a systemic, elite-driven abuse network that targeted and commodified vulnerable young women, treating them as disposable property through violence, intimidation, and blackmail. Furthermore, this threat has persisted for years, with survivors reporting ongoing harassment, retaliation, and, most recently, credible fears for their safety due to death threats following the release of court files. I have never identified as a femininst. Why? Because I observe that ism's generate countermovements faster than they heal divides. Our federal court are BROKEN. No one will take responsibility for the f*cked up ECF system. The courts have put the filing burden on lawyers when its the clerks job to file and process pleadings. Now they have put MFA on everything and it’s now impossible to file. We have asked for six months for an alternative under the ADA and no one at the Administrative Office of the Courts will return a call and the SCOTUS clerk literally just wrote: It’s Not Our Problem Whose problem is it? Seriously no one answer the phone at RacerPacer. No ADA Coordinator will take responsibility and we can’t file anything. I now understand McVeigh anger, but I don’t agree with the resolution.
