Great workshop on X-ray spectroscopy by our guest Dr Vincent Noel from Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource(SSRL). Good learning experience for our students and fruitful discussions among staff in finding synergies in X-ray spectroscopy and surface complexation modelling.

@VsPsych For some reason, the new generation getting trained at Indian institutes is convinced that quantity will take them higher in academics than the quality of research. We have been very successful at creating paper mills rather than meaningful research culture. A worrying trend!

Had a meaningful brain storming on ethics in research. Take home message: no clear connection but quality of research in a country is related with national guidelines for ethics in research. When these are clear, they allow local institute ethics committees to do their job well.
