Canada has what the world wants. So we’re building new trade corridors that connect our manufacturers and producers to the ports they need to sell to the world. @MonocleMag

More pumps and nothing

It is 100% true that great men and women of the past were not sitting around moaning about their feelings. I regret nothing.

The Conservative push for Don Cherry and the Order of Canada is a politicization of institutions, and it’s no-dummy, know-nothing, argument-starting populism, rooted in false nostalgia. In other words, it’s almost a tribute to Don. thestar.com/sports/nhl/why…

Iran's ability to jam the Straits of Hormuz far exceeds what American and Israeli planners thought possible. What is going on now is incredible: 1) At least three commercial ships were hit today. The Mayuree Naree, a Thai-flagged bulk carrier, caught fire in its engine room after being struck 11 nautical miles north of Oman. 2) Despite being under the watch the US Navy, Iran has successfully laid naval mines in the strait. CENTCOM eliminated 16 Iranian minelayer vessels but could not stop the operation. 3) Most major carriers, including Maersk, MSC, and Hapag-Lloyd, have suspended transits. Daily vessel traffic has plummeted from an average of 82 to approximately zero to 13 per day, with only shadow fleet tankers or those with specific ties to China or Russia attempting the crossing. 4) War-risk insurance premiums have increased 200% to 300%, making it financially unviable for many shipowners to operate in the region. 5) The IRGC is using high-frequency radio to warn all vessels that they will be set ablaze if they attempt transit. The United States knew that Iran would try to shut the Straits and was unable to prevent it. The consequences for the global economy and American standing could be severe. This has been a strategic failure of epic proportions.

President Trump said he has directed the U.S. Development Finance Corporation to provide political risk insurance and financial guarantees for maritime trade moving through the Gulf. He added that the U.S. Navy will begin escorting tankers through the Strait of Hormuz.

Mark Carney is using back room deals to seize a costly majority that voters rejected, which will enable Liberals to balloon debt, inflate the cost of living, block resources and turn criminals loose on our streets. Conservatives will do what we promised voters: fight for a Canada that is affordable, safe and strong at home and unbreakable abroad.
