i don’t mean to be pedantic but like, Anakin is literally PG13 Paul Atriedes and by George’s own admission we don’t get the Jedi without the weirding way and the benne gesserit. i agree that Star Wars is bigger than Dune but it’s very wrong to say it only took 3% inspiration lol

Star Wars is inspired by like 0-3% of Dune and would still exist without Dune. If we are powerscaling cultural impact, there is no argument. Darth Vader’s breathing alone mogs any iconography from Dune. Lets be serious

Idk the whole debate seems silly. Sure some authors are influenced by it more than others. A lot of great authors don’t even like Dune! But it’s too massive of a work to not have influence everywhere

All science fiction and fantasy written after Dune is influenced by Dune. Dune is one of the modern foundational works, even if you have never read it you are influenced by works that were influenced by it.

@bigblackbugs Okay they are the reason the train is so slow! It’s something to do with the tracks or signals or something. Like even beyond the absurd amount of stops they get it’s the actual infrastructure. They can go to hell
