I don’t usually like / talk about Indian influencers but the recent YouTube video by hustlerani is worth watching. It’s called “if love hasn’t found you yet” and it’s beautiful. She talks about the guilt and shame around admitting that you’re single and still feel lonely. And how the whole “love will find you when you least expect it” feels flawed… because if I’m an optimist mf, I want love to find me everywhere. And this hit a little too close. Last year, French Riviera. Perfect sunset. Beautiful city. Life looking wholesome af. And I’m crying… cutting my birthday crêpe. Because in that moment all I could think was why am I here alone and not hugging the love of my life? We’ve somehow made loneliness feel embarrassing. Like wanting love makes you weak. It doesn’t. I think our generation is already unlearning so many rules. Let’s unlearn this one too: You can be independent and still want someone. You can have a full life and still feel the absence of love. You can be okay and still admit you’re lonely. At the end of the day, we’re social animals. Ofc we crave the happy hormones that come with being held by someone we love. And maybe that doesn’t make us less evolved. Maybe it just makes us honest.
