My new song takes us back to the early Poolside mindset: combining sounds and genres that shouldn’t ever be in the same room together. 80s New Age + 2010s trap with Poolside vibes. This song is something sonically that we had never made before, nostalgic, but without the longing - like the closing credits to a film.
Poolside started as a refusal to fit in. That refusal shaped every record since 2012. Five albums, each one shaped visually by an artist who understood the moment. This era belongs to @williamapan
When we met each other at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, I was djing the closing night of the David Hockney exhibition - notably an artist who deeply influenced Poolside sound and aesthetic.
Will and I just clicked that night - and I learned William and I work in similar ways, finding the new thing inside the unexpected place.
