According to Iran's judiciary (Mizan agency), Saleh Mohammadi (19, national wrestling team bronze medalist) and two others were convicted of killing two police officers—Mohammad Ghasemi Homapour and Abbas Asadi—during Jan 8, 2026 protests in Qom by attacking them with knives/swords. They got death for "moharebeh" (enmity against God) and aiding US/Israel. Human rights groups (Amnesty, IHRNGO, Hengaw) call it a sham: torture-forced confessions (retracted in court), closed trial, no chosen lawyer, ignored alibis/CCTV, no appeal. No independent evidence of his role or even the officers' deaths has been publicly verified. He was arrested Jan 15 after protests against the regime.
