@HaroldWren22 You’re delusional. The EU funds the infrastructure and civilian workforce on those bases. You don’t get to decide who stays, if we tell you to leave, you leave. And calling us traitors? After Trump threatened an EU country? Get fucked.

I was talking to my father this evening & i said the same thing. He countered with what i think is a better idea. He said, “no, we dont completely leave. We built those bases, our men bled in wars for them. You leave a skeleton maintenance crew at every single European base, but you keep them. You redeploy every one not part of the care taker group & every asset out of Europe, but you dont give those bases to those ungrateful traitors to use. You just take away all the jobs there for Europeans, all the Americans who contribute to those countries economies, you take away all the military people & weapons that keep them safe.” And you know what? It makes perfect sense. Because if you dont do that, China moves into those bases.

@HaroldWren22 I knew someone who was stationed there in the late seventies who said whenever there was a plane crash the locals would go to the site and collect anything they could from the debris and even body parts if I’m not mistaken.

@HeatherBo63 @KevrotKev 100% right, if you get a full state pension then you have contributed 35 yrs of N.I. & entitled to it. I've given up trying to convince ppl w/ logic on this but suffice to say no party will get elected to scrap pensions as no-one - literally no-one - over 45 would vote for them!

Don't want to get into a bun fight here but why am I reading posts from younger people complaining about people getting a state pension? Errrr, this is how it has always been. When we're young, we work hard for years and then we reach an age where we receive a pension and it's the next generation's turn. What is it with a lot of younger people nowadays (god, I sound like my dad!), they want it all and would be happy if we just kicked the bucket when we retire. I receive my state pension in November this year and I'm bloomin' well not going to feel guilty about it. I would never have complained about this when I was younger and working full time. Never even considered it.
