For Fund II, we didn’t pitch investors— We sent their future selves from 2050 to do it for us. See how below 🧵

It's sad what's happened to Life Time Pickleball in NYC. Costs $379 + tax / month Crowded with members 20 people waitlists for open play sessions Paid leagues that fill up courts More paid tournaments on wknds Members can't play pickleball anymore. I hope they make changes soon.

Coincidentally just 6 weeks prior to October 7th, I finished producing a short film about my Russian Jewish parents' intense immigration story. The entire sentiment of the film was contrasting how unthinkably terrible it was growing up Jewish in the Soviet Union versus how safe & amazing it is to grow up Jewish in the US today. Obviously – things have taken a drastic turn in the past few months. Watching the film now, it is *devastating* to watch how so many of freedoms we were just celebrating as a family (e.g. the grandkids openly going to temple or proudly wearing the Star of David) have been radically eviscerated in the wake of the recent escalation in nationwide anti-semitism. This film was originally only meant to serve as a private family heirloom that our kids' kids' kids would watch to celebrate what my parents did for our legacy, but going back and watching it now we realize how important of a tool this film is to underscore how quickly anti-semitism is being re-introduced to our society. So we made the choice to share it with the world today. It is 6 minutes long, please give it a watch and a share.

Does this exist? An API/developer product that lets any B2B SaaS add an integrated email service provider. So if I have an invoicing SaaS for auto shops, and I want to let my customers also send marketing emails/sequences, I can just white label instead of build myself

@jjen_abel Such an important insight. Do you find this to be true for VC-backed B2B startups as well (<200 employees)?

We @a16z are spending a lot of time thinking through how GenAI will fit into professional services. I'm deep down the accounting + tax rabbit hole. If you're building in this space, I'd love to hear your strong opinions. Please reach out!

Beyond today’s headline about the $100M Seed round raised by Mistral 🇫🇷, I think many are missing why the French startup ecosystem will be a major source of breakthrough AI startups in the next 3-5 years. 1/5 🧵

With every hiring cycle, you learn what works, what doesn’t, and level up the team's game. From there, the rate at which Excellent Hiring compounds is simply awesome.

3. Continuously iterating as a team - Watch the game tape. Calibrate as a team on what "good" looks like. See what the best recruiters do differently. Then go share these secrets with the team. Let them copy them and give it their own twist.

A super common recruiting question from SaaS startups: 'How can we maintain the hiring bar as we grow the team?' You add more hiring managers, more interviewers. Need to fill more roles. All of a sudden, things start breaking. Mis-hires, churn, you're back to square zero.
