Очередное дежурное напоминание, что концентрация капитала в одних руках, равно как и концентрация фондового рынка в акциях пяти-шести компаний, это очень плохо для капитализма и рынка.
Так уже было не раз, и каждый раз это кончалось ОЧЕНЬ ПЛОХО.

OK so I have lived in America, Holland, China and am from the UK so I can speak to this. This isn’t true. What struck me was how extreme the differences are in wealth and how stratified the class system is (contra the self-conception).

All of these “Europeans experiencing America for the first time” stories have a common theme: Every single one of them is a European experiencing for the first time how absurdly wealthy the United States is compared to really anywhere else in the world. It underpins them all

The GDP per capita is a cool thing, I mean when Google invests in OpenAI and they buy NVidia chips and NVidia invests in Google it is all ponies and rainbows, and if your trailer costs a million you are a millionaire but hey you still live in a fucking trailer park

@sithshat @BertDalziel GDP per capital of Alabama is higher than France and UK. There isn't a "trailer park" index, and it's likely those people in trailer parks have more money than the average European

@sithshat @theashleyray OK. Tbf I would probably expect LA to be cheaper than Paris anyway. But I think the broader point is that there's a culture among some Americans to always stay in chain hotels, Hilton, Marriott etc. Whereas in Europe there's almost a prejudice against that. Not everyone obvs
