If I ever start a podcast trying to deconvert LDS folk, I give whatever LDS stake President to publicly stream my excommunication while clowning on me cause all exmo podcasters are dumb dumb doo doo heads.

As others have pointed out, the Japanese-American conversations have been almost universally fantastic, with both peoples highlighting stuff we like and many things we generally have in common but interpret in different ways, and it's all felt like an awesome opportunity to learn about wonderful new things. The European-American conversations are a tedious exercise in grating, ignorant condescension with zero hint of positive benefit anywhere in sight. All I've learned is that a lot of Europeans believe the absolute dumbest nonsense about the US (and even about the EU!) and rely on bizarre stereotypes and myths as their only source of "information", while simultaneously being too arrogant to admit that they have no idea what they're talking about -- even when presented with incontrovertible evidence that directly contradicts their beliefs.

@BruceNorth46058 No, it would only prove that Joseph Smith translated the book of Mormon by the gift and power of God. It does not prove that the great apostasy happened, that the LDS Church is the continuation of apostolic authority, or that Joseph Smith received the apostolic mantle.

If we had the golden plates in a museum, and every expert in the world agreed Joseph translated the Book of Mormon correctly, would that "prove" The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true? Would everyone be compelled to join the Church?
