The funeral of Father Pierre El-Rahi, Maronite parish priest of a Christian village, is celebrated today in #Lebanon, as these villages once again experience the tragedy of war. I am close to all the Lebanese people in this time of grave trial. Fr. Pierre was a true shepherd. As soon as he heard that parishioners had been wounded in a bombing, he rushed to help without hesitation. May the Lord grant that the blood he shed become a seed of peace for beloved Lebanon. #PrayTogether

Israel killed him. Israel is killing Christians in Lebanon. Israel is killing Christians in Gaza. Israel is killing Christians in the West Bank. Israel is killing Christians in Tehran. It is not antisemitism to call out the evil deeds of Israel, in fact, the prophets did it, our Lord Jesus Christ did it, and the first Christians did so too. Meanwhile, "christian zionists" in the US are providing the funds and arms for Israel to continue its blood spilling in conquest of the alleged "Promised Land." Please, take a strong stance against Zionism: help destroy the spell that have overtaken the liberal West.

With all due respect, I am deeply concerned that your message does not mention who killed Fr. Pierre or who killed and wounded the parishioners in the village. It’s Israel. It is the same state that killed dozens of my relatives, neighbors, and students and leveled my city to the ground in Gaza. To my knowledge, there is nothing in either your faith or mine that prevents us from naming those responsible for crimes and injustice. Truth and accountability are essential if we are to seek genuine peace. If I may add one final point: what people in Lebanon and Palestine have been experiencing for decades is not simply the tragedy of “war.” It is the tragedy of injustice and occupation. I hope that in your future messages you will also pray for an end to occupation, for the freedom of our people from Israeli occupation, and for justice after decades of suffering, brutalization, and terrorism.

@Pontifex @Melissa_WongMT "these villages once again experience the tragedy of war" Stating this without also mentioning that it is once again Israel waging war on them is an extremely impotent statement, respectfully

@Pontifex @sfrantzman Lebanese Christians hold Hezbollah responsible for the death of Father Pierre Raai and expel a pro-Hezbollah MP during the priest’s funeral. Hezbollah killed him ⤵️

#Liban #Hezbollah #MiddleEast #Geopolitique #SWNews

Pray for Lebanon 🙏 God is opening our eyes. Anyone spouting heretical beliefs to push war are not to be followed and a government that dumps white phosphorus on civilians is evil. We can't have a heretical cult in charge of decisions in the US government and we can't let Bibi commit crimes against humanity. St. Michael defend us in battle, help good people in charge to stop these atrocities 🙏

Pope Leo, While I too am saddened by Fr. Pierre tragic death, I find it appalling that you NEVER took the time to mention by name the many priests Savagely Murdered by Islamic Violence in Africa and around the world! As a Catholic I think that your Far Left Ideology has become more and more Divisive and Political! Let’s be Honest and Truthful! You’re mentioning and using Fr. Pierre’s tragic death to take a swipe at Israel! I wonder how much more Antisemitism your post will cause?
